I finally after 2 years have found someone that I will trust with my hair. I have been fighting with my hair extensions for to long. She was highly recommended from a girl friend of mine. Let me tell you she knew so much about the different kinds or extensions. She took her time to educate me on the methods available to save on damaging my poor hair any more. We choose the hair color that would suit me best. She highlighted my hair to match perfectly. Then she put in 20in blond hair that gave me not only beautiful hair. But, I felt like a million bucks.

Several months ago I sought out hair extensions due to an incident with a 9 year old armed with scissors that left me with what appeared to be a mullet hairdo 1 week before a wedding. After the panic subsided and I realized a simple haircut couldn't fix this I called a few salons that offered hair extension services. I had never had extensions so I was worried about things like the cost, the maintenance, and how natural they would look. I only knew of the stories people had told me about hot, messy glue and patches of hair falling out of their head prior to this experience. It was a blessing from the universe that I was able to schedule a consultation with Julie (Jules) in such short notice because the job she did especially considering the horrific damage she had to contend with was amazing.

 

5 out of 5 stars is simply not enough credit to give Julie. During our consult she found the perfect match of colors to use as my extensions since it had previously been highlighted and she was very honest and sincere about what she could do to fix my embarrassing mullet problem. The system she uses is actually better for your hair since the extension is attached by a tiny bead so you don't have to worry about any glue or heat damage. The beads may feel strange for a few days but like anything new you get use to them and eventually forget that they are there. Styling my hair was no different than before once I realized how tightly they were attached to my natural hair.

 

When Julie finished my extensions I was shocked not only at how natural they looked but also at how much healthier and fuller my hair looked than it ever had before. Not to mention she is a color genius!! Even if you aren't interested in adding length, these extensions are great for highlights, new colors, or adding volume without having to deal with chemicals. Julie is a true artist and very professional. She genuinely cares about making her clients happy and it shows in her work. I can't imagine letting anyone else do my hair except her ever again!

I've been getting hair extensions from Julie at Descend Salon for over a year and will continue to do so. I have long hair already, but it is very thin, so I get about 50-60 extensions each time to fill out my hair and make it look thicker. I love it! No one ever knows that I have extensions as Julie does a good job blending the colors of the extensions into my own hair color. I have had extensions done in the past with two other stylists so I can honestly say she does a good job. I also love that she offers stick straight extensions..look around..not all stylists have that option..I have seen other stylists version on straight and that still have a bit of a wave to them. Not Julie's!

 

The way it works is 1)she puts the extensions in and I pay full price 2) 2.5 months later they have grown with my hair too much so i come back in and she takes them out and puts them back in tighter. I pay about half price. 3)2.5 months later she takes them out and throws them away and we start all over with fresh extensions at full price.

 

She is fair, honest and does a good job.

I always get so many compliments from people even though they have no clue I have extensions in. The only thing is that if you are really considering getting extensions you actually have to put time and effort in yourself to take care of them. I decided to go to Descend Salon to consult with "Jules," a hairdresser whom I had read wonderful things about on http://Yelp.com, about hair extensions, and I was absolutely thrilled with the results. I have since gone to Julie Stumphy on two separate occasions for extensions, the first time for blonde ones and the second time for a layered brown/blond look. Each time she did a great job. Her hands are swift and skilled, and she has a terrific personality to boot. If you're considering getting extensions, I would highly recommend her. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was due to the expense of the extensions being so high, but I am telling you, they're worth the time and money!!!!

 After reading some great reviews about Julie, I decided to give it a go. Although the cut wasn't bad, it wasn't amazing, either. I wanted a big change, so showed her a picture of Ashley Tisdale's hair (yes, I'm a teenie bopper). She already told me my cut probably wouldn't look exactly like that, but I was really surprised at how far off it was. Hrmmm

I found Julie at Descend Salon using Yelp. The reviews of her extension skills were amazing, and now having gone to her, I can definitely agree! I had a consultation with her to choose which color and type of hair would work best for me. She ordered it quickly and before I knew it I was in her chair getting my new 'do. Julie is super sweet, but more importantly, she is a great stylist for hair extensions. In just 5 hours, my hair was cut, colored, and my extensions were put in. At other places I've been to, sometimes they took just as long for a cut and color only! She did a fabulous job--everyone says I look exactly like I did before when I had long hair! No one can tell that I have extensions because she matched the color of my own hair so well and blended the extensions with my own locks. Since getting my extensions put in, Julie has made her self readily available to me to answer any questions I have. As my own hair grows out and as I maintain the extensions, I am confident that my hair will continue to look great thanks to Julie!

I started going here cause of the Haught on Yelp deal, and found a $40 haircut..yay! I went to see Jewels, and she did a dry cut. It looked great, light and airly. So I went back a few weeks later to her again - at normal price. My friends have also noticed and love my new haircut!

 I went her for my birthday cut back in June. I had Julie (Jules) and she was AWESOME. What a fun person with great creativity! I really didn't know what I wanted (a stylist's nightmare) and she worked with me, my erratic hair, and gave me an awesome cut that I love love love. I haven't been back because I am growing it out, but when I am ready, I'm going back to Jules.

 

Oh, to add a little bit of class, she even wrote a hand written thank-you note that I received a few days later. That's amazing customer service and what a treat.

 

I would have given it 4 stars because $90 for a hair cut is a little steep, but it's not Julie's fault. She did give me a $90 hair cut. If they would lower it a bit, it would be great. But heck, if everyone lowered their prices wouldn't it be great? :)

This is the story of my 6-month journey with hair extensions. If you've ever wondered about it or have been thinking about it, just keep reading.

 

I have had super short hair all of my adult life. Then, one day I decided to let it grow. Cut. Repeat. Cut. Repeat.  For years I could never get past the "ugly duckling" stage by growing the hair past my ears. Finally, it occurred to me that modern technology occasionally has a solution for what nature cannot provide: hair extensions, naturally. Tada!

 

I called a bunch of fancy salons and went to a couple consults, but I wasn't convinced and it seemed like no one REALLY knew what they were doing until I got to Julie Stumphy at Descend. Let my experience save you the research and the legwork -and look no further. The system Julie uses is the forefront of modern hair technology (no glue or weaves) and she's been doing it and teaching it for years and years. Your hair savior is here.

 

First of all, don't be put off by Julie's looks. Uh, she's pretty awesome. Kinda like a cross between Dolly Parton and Cher. But in a good way! And sometimes she pretends that she's silly or "dumb," but don't let that fool you either. She's as sharp and smart as they come, but wrapped in this tall, curvy, full-of-life-and-hair package. And her hands work magic. She's very coordinated and, really, when you think about it, that's what you want with a stylist. She's got a great eye, too and best of all, she's a good listener. Did you hear me? She listens to what you want!

 

About the hair extensions itself: they're expensive. But what did you think? Don't be stingy. If you're going to do this, do it right and save up. The microbead system is done with these tiny metal hollow beads that attach your own hair to the extension hair. You pick the color and the length and the quality. Julie tells you how many in all you'll need and how much it costs and orders it for you. Unfortunately, I have very thick hair so I need a lot of extensions. The good news is that as your hair grows longer, you can keep reducing the number of extensions you have in at one time until your natural hair is at the length you want.

 

About the time commitment: it takes a looooong time to have them put in. It can be 3-4 hours, sometimes more, depending on how many you get. Then, as the beads grow out with your natural hair, you have to get them re-attached eventually. You don't want the little metal beads growing more than about 2 inches out or they'll start to show. You're lucky if your hair grows slowly. Bad for me that my hair grows like a weed! I get my whole head re-done about every 2-3 months and small adjustments in between when strands come out. Which leads me to...

 

Fall out: I won't lie. The strands come out sometimes. It's not a perfect system. But it's pretty darn close. You just call and have Jules put them back in if you think there's a spot that's thinning, but, for the most part, if you follow Julie's instructions, you will have no limitations with your hair.

 

Care: I wash, I blow dry, I flat-iron, I use all sorts of products and I freely brush my hair. People think you cannot do all those things with extensions but it's not true. Having hair extensions has allowed me to grow my own hair out while tricking everyone! All feedback has been that it looks so natural and there are no obvious signs that I have "fake" hair in there. Actually, it's not fake hair, it's real. Which leads me to...

 

The bad news: there isn't much. But listen up: the hair is real but it's not alive. So it will get dry after a couple months. You need to keep it really moist with serums and conditioners and going in for color/moisture treatments with Jules helps. If it gets too dry it can get knots. You cannot just drag any old brush through your hair, you need a higher-quality brush. The first night after you get them put in (or re-attached) the beads are closer to your scalp and it HURTS to put your head on your pillow! One must suffer for beauty sometimes. You get used to it after a couple days and then it's fine. What's a little discomfort when you've got shiny, long locks and you're tossing you're full head of flowing hair around???

 

I have had my hair extensions now for almost 7-months and I cannot be happier. It's fun. I haven't looked like this since High School! (Minus the wrinkles, of course.) I wear my hair up, I curl it, I put barrettes and hair bands in. After years of having short spiky do's, this is so surrreal. And people freak out when they see you. That's fun, too.

 

My reasoning for keeping this high-maintenance hair is that I don't drink or do drugs anymore, so what do I have left? I play with my hair. It's all I have now that I am married with kids and live a respectable life! Just kidding, but you know what I mean...

 

So, run, don't walk to Jules. You won't regret it. You'll be tossing your hair around like a shampoo commercial before you know it.

Julie  just has a gift for doing hair extensions (kinda like a Tiger Woods at golf) as well as a gift for cutting to frame the face perfectly.  On top of this, she is funny, friendly and very sweet.  I have been with her for almost 2 years and am thrilled with her. Thank you once again, Julie!!

Also, always nice to see new paintings by local artists displayed at the salon.  Really adds a nice touch.

Julie ("Jewels") IS one extraordinary HAIR EXTENSION specialist!  I have been going to her for about 1 1/2 years for a full head of curly extensions and have been blown away EACH time at her amazing skills.  Please read my previous reviews for other details.Although each time she does my hair it is perfect, she still tries to fix perfection (so to say).  At this visit she attached the bang area differently to keep it forward as much as possible as that is my preference.  I let Julie do just about anything as I trust her implicitly!  I am really pleased with this new bang placement. I have said it before and I will continue to say it until it is no longer true...Julie is the absolute BEST at extensions as well as styling.  THANKS SO MUCH, Julie!!   Lastly, the salon itself is just as warm and friendly as it has always been.   Thanks, Descend!

 

 

By now you may be sick of my reviews but a truly great extensionist (is that a word?)/stylist is extremely hard to find!   So, when I discovered Julie last year I thanked my lucky stars.   Once again, she redid my extensions to perfection!   Really!!   She has an amazing gift.  And, as stated in my previous reviews, she is always looking for ways to make it better even though I think it is perfect.  Jules, you are the absolute best  and you do it with humor and modesty.  Once again, THANK YOU for making it look so natural. Just had my weave rewoven last week.  And, yes, once again Julie did a fantastic job.  I have been going to her for about a year now and, by far, she still is the very best extensionist I have ever been to!  And, I have been to some excellent extensionists in the past 13 years.  Julie just stands out from everyone else.  I truly hope that some San Francisco/Bay area focused magazine does a story on Julie, Descend Salon and hair extensions.  Thanks again to all at Descend!

 

 

I wrote my first review of Descend and Julie (Jewels) on 9/3/08.  It is almost 2 months since that time and the sewn-in weave Julie did is still AMAZING!  It held so well and tight that I pushed my next appt. out 1 week further!   Also, her placement of the extensions and her cut suit my face perfectly, as if I were her client for years!  Julie really has a great gift for doing hair.  Lastly, about a week after my first appt. she wrote me a really sweet thank you/welcome to the salon note card.   I can not imagine anyone doing a better job than Jewels!

 

 

All I can say is WOW!!   After interviewing several extensionists in SF, I decided to go with Julie ("Jewels") here  at Descend Salon for my full head sew in weave that I have worn for the past 12 years or so.  I have had about 5 different extensionists in the past 12 years, mainly due to moving, and JULIE IS BY FAR THE BEST!!  She is patient, precise, knows her stuff really, really well and has a tremendous sense of humor. After the weave was in, she cut it perfectly, as if she had been cutting it for years!   She doesn't push products, either, which is very refreshing. Also,  the salon itself has a very relaxed and friendly feel and everyone is helpful, including asking you if you want coffee, tea, water, wine!  My thanks, too, to Robert (receptionist) and Veronica (assistant) for their help and making you feel comfortable in a new salon.

My only criticism is to Julie, herself, for NOT SELLING HERSELF MORE STRONGLY during my consult with her.  But, I guess that is ok as the vibes I got from her made me choose her.   She is GREAT at what she does, does it with lots of good, honest conversation and laughs,  makes you feel welcome and....your hair looks fabulous when you walk out!   What more can you ask for?????   Lastly, this review is from a picky, 51 year old ex- New Yorker!   Need I say more?   THANK YOU JEWELS!

 

 

Once again, Jules did a FANTASTIC job with my weave!  Thank you so very much. Just an additional note:  Although she knows my hair and weave well by now,  Jules still strives for perfection each time I visit.   She is always looking for a better way to weave along with different materials that suit my particular hair (i.e., different threads for sewing;  better placement to fit my face, etc.).   I think this an additional wonderful quality  Jules possesses  and I admire her for it.   It would be easier to just keep doing it the same way without much thought but, Jules goes that extra step, ALWAYS!

Yes, Descend Salon and Julie are as good as it gets!!  I had my 3rd appointment with Julie yesterday for a whole head sew-in weave.  The results, as twice before, JUST FABULOUS!  This time, even Julie was extremely happy with the result as she felt she finally got the braid placement perfect.  I have been extremely happy all three times.  And, I am still amazed at her uncanny ability to get the placement of the braids and the extensions in the perfect location for my face, as well as a fabulous cut after an exhausting day of weaving.  That takes great skill, great patience and a great sense of humor to keep us both going during our long day together.  I think we are EXTREMELY lucky to have someone with such amazing talent and kindness working here in San Francisco!

 

 As a sidebar, if there are any journalists/magazine writers reading this, I think a piece on the best hair extensionists in the Bay area would be a good idea for a local magazine.  As extensions are becoming more mainstream, I think an article on the subject would be helpful to those seeking this service.  

 Lastly, as stated before, Descend has a great feel to it, very comfortable and everyone friendly, willing to get you a drink or whatever to make you as comfortable as possible.

I have never cried over a haircut but I did yesterday for the first time when someone else from another salon gave me the most wretched "haircut" of my life. Today, I (sort of) held back tears of joy as I hugged Julie for doing the unthinkable and make my hair look not just good, but absolutely fantastic. I repeat: I honestly have never cried over a haircut before but my hair yesterday was *that* bad and today looks *that* darn good.  Julie installed human hair extensions to fill in the buchard cut and save me the humillision.

After receiving two crappy cuts and colors at another Union St. salon, I was referred to Descend.  I was referred to Julie, but when she wasn't working on the day I could get in, I agreed to go with Dianne.  Dianne has the perfect balance of funky and real, and you will not come out looking like a Barbie, Punk, or Soccer Mom.  She gave me a color that I liked (Finally - not all of us in Marina/ Cow Hollow wish we were blond) and a solid cut, and she wasn't afraid to tell me the color I had before didn't work with my skin tone - well thank you for the expert advice because that's the reason I'm here!  I will be back for sure.  The prices are reasonable as well.

 I'm very picky with my hair stylists. Since moving to SF from NYC, I did not get a haircut for about a year because I was afraid to get my hair butchered. I went through about five stylist before I finally found one in NYC. Luckily Julie was my first chance and she nailed it. Long overdue and I apologize!

 

I had an appointment with Jules and I felt right at home every second I sat in her seat! It was kinda frustrating that she was running late... but I truly appreciate her staying way beyond everyone else and finishing up my hair!

 

I wanted to go lighter on my highlights, but she was honest and told me it wouldn't flatter me, so I took her opinion and glad I did! Because after a few washes, the color is exactly where I want it!

 

She did a dry cut too, which I have never had done before... but reeeeally like. My hair hangs exactly how it should now and all the lopsided layers I got elsewhere are gone! And my thick hair no longer feels as thick... which is a huuuuge plus.

I LOVE my new haircut. It fits me and it fits what I wanted.

 

I thought Julie was a sweetie and took her time to make my hair look ab fab.

 

Really short but with low maintenance and not making me look like a mushroom-head or as if I were much older than my 30 years. In addition, Julie shared with me how to make the cut look more feminine (and thus, by the reverse, how I could make it look more masculine, if I wanted to).

 

Julie and the salon take credit cards and I could put the tip on the card too.

 

I got the appointment on the same week I called which I was not expecting being able to do.

For short hair styles, Julie gives 2 week clean ups for FREE with the expectation that you will need to get your hair done every month to keep it from growing out. Julie rocks!

I wasn't sure about coloring my hair, but I felt that the natural gray was making me look and feel really older.  Way old.  I am too young to look that old. So, I went on line and this place had great reviews and thought I would give it a try.  I was going on vacation the next day, so if it was really bad, I would land in a city where no one knows me and see if someone could fix it.  But all that worry for nothing.

 

Julie did a great job.  She was fun also.  You cannot tell that my hair has been colored, well, you can, but it is so subtle, no one came up to me and said,"oh, you got your hair colored."  Nothing like that.  I have heard I look younger now.  The best weave ever.  A blend of my hair with color alternating in between.  It looks awesome.  I will be back!

Descend Salon is my favorite place to go because Ms. Jewels takes such wonderful care of my hair. I had always wanted to try hair extensions but was too scared of the outcome. But then one Thursday afternoon and new blond was born! Oh my god.... I should of met Jewels years back and how I would of enjoyed my new long blond locks. Jewels took the time to really figure out the best way to cut , color and mold my hair to my personailty and style. She really knows what she is doing, takes the time to educate you on how to manage your hair and goes out of  her way to really make you feel so special. Thank you Jewels for the new look! Also, the salon is wonderful too. Everyone is so nice and treats everyone with a smile. I really am glad I found Descend and Jewels...they are perfect in my book.

I decided to go to Descend Salon to consult with "Jules," a hairdresser whom I had read wonderful things about on http://Yelp.com, about hair extensions, and I was absolutely thrilled with the results. I have since gone to Julie Stumphy on two separate occasions for extensions, the first time for blonde ones and the second time for a layered brown/blond look. Each time she did a great job. Her hands are swift and skilled, and she has a terrific personality to boot. If you're considering getting extensions, I would highly recommend her. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was due to the expense of the extensions being so high, but I am telling you, they're worth the time and money!!!!

EVERY TIME I get my hair cut I have to go home and fix it myself because it's thick and no one who cuts it ever believes that it's going to look like a triangle when I get home, and then it does, it looks like a triangle and I have to do a hack job thinning it out more myself.  If you have thick hair you will know what I mean.

 

But Julie, you cut my hair PERFECTLY!  When I moved to San Francisco I just googled something like, "good job cutting my thick hair," and I found her, and Descend, on yelp.  The reviews were all great but I was still highly skeptical, having been disappointed so many times before after hearing rave reviews about people who still make my hair look like a poufy triangle.  But, my haircut was AWESOME.  And I'm not just saying that, people kept telling me everywhere I went that they loved my hair, and then they started telling me that they went and got their hair cut "like mine," but I did not have the heart to tell them that it's not "like mine" if Julie didn't cut it.

 

It even grew out really well, which is tough to do with short, layered hair.  So, it sounds expensive but is a way better deal than getting lots of $40 haircuts that look scraggly again in like 2 weeks.  (That having been said I am pushing the envelope a little after not getting it re-cut for several months, but even now I get compliments.  Going back finally for a new cut next week and I'm super-excited.)  

 

Plus Julie is really cool and fun to talk to, which is just icing on the cake, because I would totally go to someone mean if I could get my hair to look this good, but instead she is awesome:)   The salon was very cozy and welcoming, and everyone else was really nice too--they even offered me a glass of wine, which I should have accepted because I was SO nervous that I'd get a bad haircut.  Not this time, though, now I'm just psyched to go back!

I happened to stumble through this place thanks to YELP.  I am getting married and was looking for someone who I can trust to put some hair extensions.  After reading reviews about different salon, I decided to go with Descent because of Julie (Jewell) Stumphy, I was sceptical at first, but figured I should at least give it a try and go in for a free consultation. As soon as I met her, she made me feel really comfortable and was so easy going. First of all, I am someone who was used to paying $30 for a haircut and wasn't sure if the hair extensions was worth the investment. Second, my hair is very thin and I was afraid it will damage my hair by adding extensions. Third, I was afraid to trust somebody else with me hair. Because I needed to look good for my engagement pictures and for my wedding day. OMG... after she got them in, I felt like a new woman. I felt sexy and with a whole set of hair, I felt more attractive. She is AMAZING and has so much passion for hair. I've been back once to get it readjusted and it just so nice to sit in that chair and know that you will be taken care of. What's more amazing is, that no one even knows I have extensions on unless i tell them. Ihave never been as happy with my hair as I am after visiting Julie at Descend.  I was late to an appointment with another stylist, and Julie had the time for my cut.  I sat in the chair and soon realized she was the extensions expert I had read many reviews about on Yelp!  We discussed options, and after she styled my hair, just because she wanted me to look nice for my night out, knew I would come to her if I got extensions.  A few weeks later I was ready to take the plunge, and went back to her!  

 

I have very fine hair, and she explained the entire process to me, and we decided on the least damaging process.  The color matched perfectly, and she gave an amazing haircut afterward to blend.  No one can tell it's not my own hair.  I had previously thought extensions weren't a possibility because of the expense, but Julie is very reasonable!  This is rare to find from such an expert in the field.  Everyone loves my hair, but most importantly, I love it.  My new look and confidence is all thanks to Julie.  Almost three months later, I love my extensions so much I am returning to her to get longer ones put in.  I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone other than Julie!  She sends personal, hand-written thank you notes after each appointment.  A visit with Julie will leave you feeling confident, beautiful, and well cared for!!!!

Well, I just recently posted a bunch of new pictures on my social networking sites, and lo and behold I'll never tire of people telling me how great my hair looks.  I've never been told this my whole life as I was born with fine hair that just wouldn't grow past much past my shoulders.

Mywhole life I've wanted long hair but was stuck with fine hair that wouldn't grow past my shoulders.  I decided to have some fun and try extensions and found Julie S. about two years ago and followed her when she moved to Descend Salon on Union Street.  

 

I love my new hair, and Julie is the BEST.  She uses high-quality hair and if you take good care of them they stay in for a long time - and friends can't even tell I have extensions!  Julie has meticulous attention to detail and never rushes - she takes the time to do things perfectly.  She is also my colorist and matches the color just right.  I highly recommend Julie at Descend Salon! :)

Oh my goodness I haven't been able to stop looking in the mirror for a day and a half.

 

It isn't that I'm incredibly vain - I've just found haircut bliss at Descend.

 

Icalled at the last minute on Saturday morning to see if anyone could fit me in that afternoon. Since I just moved to San Francisco three weeks ago I picked it randomly off of yelp. The girl who answered the phone (Katie, I think?) was super sweet and told me that Julie could fit me in at 4pm. Sweet!

 

I got to the salon ridiculously early out of sheer luck with bus timing. After waiting for about 20 minutes the receptionist told me that Julie was running about 25 minutes over and couldn't take me until 4:20ish. I was pretty annoyed since I'm fresh from the East coast and not quite used to the laid back approach to things here. I sat tapping my foot impatiently until I was informed that another stylist, Jill, could take me right away.

 

Oh Jill. What magical scissors you have. This was fate.

 

Icouldn't spit out the words to tell her what I wanted but she seemed to understand and tossed in a few ideas of her own. She made my bangs look perfect, the back bouncy, and the layers fall just the way I like them. I think what impressed me the most is that she didn't put in a ton of product and style it in a way I could never do myself. A little shine serum, a hair dryer, and a round brush.

 

I am so happy that I found Jill on my first try at a haircut here. If you are looking for someone new request her! The only downside was that she accepts only cash or check. Not a big deal but it would be nice to know beforehand! $65 well spent.

ILOVE MY HAIR! I have never been able to say that in my entire life. I have very fine hair, and was very tired of bobs and short hair cuts. I decided I wanted extensions, but because my hair is so fine, was very worried about the damage to my natural hair and also worried that people might be able to "tell".  I went to several stylists for a consultation, and ultimately decided that Julie (Jules) was the right person for the job. (Other hairstylists wanted to use glue -- yikes!)

 

Sheis so incredibly patient, and was totally in synch with my concerns. She explained what kind of extensions would work best on my hair, what kind of hair was best for me, and explained how we would ensure absolute minimum damage to my natural hair. I've had the extensions now for 3 months, and I LOVE them.

 

I can't say enough great things about Jules - she's awesome to talk with, is so incredibly sweet and really wants to ensure her clients are happy. She is the most "girlie girl" I have ever met. I keep telling her that I want some of it to rub off on me!! After a discussion we had about false eyelashes, she actually went out and bought eyelashes for me and gave me a tutorial on how to put them on! I have to say the "girlie girl lessons" are working, because the attention from men since I got the extensions has increased exponentially! :-)

 

If you are looking for amazing extensions and a wonderful person to work with you, Jules is definitely the person to see.

Wheredo I start.....recently I signed up as a member of yelp even though I have been using them for almost a year to get reviews on biz.  This is my first review on yelp, and I am pleased that it is for Descend Salon and Julie( Jewels).

 

How could one southern lady be so lucy as to stumble upon two great finds at one time.  Here's how the story goes..............

 

Ihave always had long hair, until April. Due to some recent events in my life at that time, I had someone cut my hair. They screwed it up. Then I went to someone else to fix the screwup, and they made it worse. By the time I got to the third beautician my hair was only 4 inches long ( at the most).. I was severly depressed. My hair looked like ........Well ya know what I mean?

 

I realized for the first in my life that I did not have long hair. I realized I needed to get extensions. I started looking around for a hair extension specialist. But, particularly for one that specialized in damage free extensions. My goal at the time was to have my hair grow back healthy, and to never ever cut it again.

 

I came across an ad on Craigslist, for Julie S.  at Descend Salon. Something felt right about calling her. I told  her about my horrible experiences in the past weeks, and she scheduled me in for a free consultation.

 

From the first time I walked into Descend Salon and was greeted by Robert, I knew without a doubt, that I had come to the right place.  Then came Julie. We connected immediately.

 

( For the record............I  am pretty good at reading people. I know when people are full of BS.)

 

Julie( Jewels), restored my faith in beauticians. She explained to me where I went wrong in believing everything people told me about my hair.

 

Mygoal was for people to look at me and know that whatever hair was on my head was mine. I wanted it to look natural. Only one week had passed since it had been butchered off.

 

Julie ordered hair and scheduled an appointement within 2 days.

Okay,I know this is running long, but I am a honest woman and I can't stand when people don't tell the truth on reviews. ..............Just one more minute....Bottom line is this................When Jewels put in my extensions and I looked in the mirror , I cried. I was back. The old me was back.  I looked like myself again.  I will never forget that Friday, April 11, 2008. I have been going back to Jewels monthly to have my color done, extensions checked and sometimes tightened.

 

I will end this by saying two thngs...........

 

Money well spent..........Robert is always, always smiling and greeting you with such warmth and kindness. Jewels S. at Descend Salon is the best at hair extensions. She colors my gray, styles my hair, and keeps me a happy.

I actually used Yelp to help find me Julie. I have worn extensions on and off for the last couple of years and have been driving from SF to Sacramento because I loved my stylist. Needless to say it was getting time consuming and pricey so I decided to try someone new. I am extremely picky and I hate trying new stylists, due to the unsuccessful colors and cuts I've had recently. Julie gave me a half head of extensions, just to add length and fullness around my face. Needless to say... I'm sold. Irecently starting seeing Jewels for my color, cuts and extensions.  Not only is she a FABULOUS person, she is an amazing stylist.  My color is perfect, my extensions are beautiful and she brought my hair back to a healthy state.

If you're thinking about getting hair extensions, go see Julie at Descend Salon!!!  I always had long hair, then about 3 months ago I cut it on a whim - needless to say, I regretted it horribly.  Two weeks before I had an important wedding to go to I decided to get extensions - I'd never done extensions before so I had no idea what I was getting myself into.  All the other salons I called told me it was entirely out of the question to get them done within 2 weeks, but then I finally found Julie and Descend Salon.  She was extremely helpful and accomodating - she had the hair overnighted and came in one morning before she was leaving for a vacation to put them in.  !!!!!  She'll talk to you about everything and make you feel totally comfortable - AND give you a hot cut/style after the extensions are in.  The salon itself is wonderful as well (and the price was the most reasonable of any other place I checked out!!!).  You know those hair salons where everyone there looks like they just stepped out of a magazine?  This place is not like that, in a very good feel-at-ease kind of way.  I was even offered a glass of wine when I came in for the consultation!  My advice to you:  you can't loose 10 lbs in 3 hours, but get Julie to do your extensions and you will walk out of there after 3 hours feeling 10 times better aboutyourself!

I've always had fine hair that wouldn't grow past my shoulders.  Over two years ago I got hair extensions that were a disaster because they ruined my real hair.  I later found Julie who has been doing them for the past year now and I could not be happier.  

 

The old method that was used was essentially a glue process, but Julie uses a newer approach that essentially uses a clamp to secure the hair into place with a small bead that is undetected - the results are gorgeous and worth every penny.  Julie never rushes, and is meticulous about getting it right.  She is the BEST!!!!!!!!  She also does my color and cuts, and I'm thrilled with those too!

 

Descend Salon, where she works, is a beautiful salon on Union Street.  The owners did an amazing job with the decor, the owners are extremely nice, and they serve wine while you're getting styled.
