Jewels Jones ... Biography

My "love affair" with hair and hair extensions began in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1996. I have 14 years of experience during which I developed the talent, skill, creativity, and most importantly of all, the meticulous detail in my hair design.  I currently work in San Francisco, at Descend Salon fulltime again!

As a Stylist I am very well rounded. I have developed and challenged my talent over the years to feel confident in being able to not only accommodate, but satisfy anyone who may sit in my chair.  I am expert in all over color matching, highlights/ low lights, bleach and tone, foil placement, and corrective color. My color theory and color design has stemmed from the best.  I can perform permanent straitening, main tamers, full body perms, and keratin protein builder treatments.   My experience with different hair types from curly, straight, fine, wavy, or ethnic hair has made me the stylist I am today.

I am a master in dry hair cutting, utilizing my training with Aveda, Viddal Sasson, and Tony & Guy.  Dry cutting, feathering, and slicing techniques soften or break up your hair texture. Whether you want more of a edgy hair style, or soft and blended, I can design the hair into a perfect form that will be more manageable, less maintenance, and hold a stronger shape for weeks than a traditional cut.  I have a great sense of balance to help you distinguish what hair style would be the most flattering for you given your face shape and profile. Then we mix in any desires, lifestyle, and personality.

I have an amazing gift for updo's and special event styling. Using my eye for balance and beauty, I can create beautiful bridal designs incorporating one's theme, mood, style and romance into your special day.  Plus, I work quickly and efficiently in and out of the salon, I travel for any occasion.  I also have worked with VS Fashion Magazine and Ibarra & Knight Photography where I was the on set hair designer for the models.  I have also worked in the past with Jigsaw London Apparel, Black house/ White market clothing, and Treat Boutique.

I am a specialist in human hair extensions.  Currently, I’m a board certified hair extension educator. I train other stylist all over the nation starting in San Francisco, Oxnard, and Salt Lake City.  In the future I will be doing classes in Fort Lauder dale, Pittsburgh, Chicago, LA, and Las Vegas.  I bring with me from each city creative trend setting style and a cutting edge education from some of the most fashion forward city’s in the nation.

There are many types of extensions that perform differently for the needs of many hair types and preferences.  Included are; Beauty Lock copper beads, Plastic tubes/ Shrinky links, Kera-Tip protein adhesive, Braided wefts (full head /row by row), corn rows, Skin wefts, and temporary clip-in extensions that are perfect for weddings or special occasions. My experience with hair extensions stem from my personal experience in dealing with my own fine, thin hair. I had my first head of hair extensions at the age of 16.  I remember asking my mother for hair extensions for my 16th birthday. She told me if I wanted them that I would have to get an after-school job and pay for them myself. And so I did!  My very first paycheck from Arby’s fast food was in the amount of $342.49.  I paid $320.00 to the first woman that introduced hair extensions to me. From then on, I decided that I wanted to not only do my own hair extensions/hair, but I wanted to help others in all of their hair care needs, wants, desires, and difficulties.  I have enjoyed working, learning, and sharing my knowledge to help make the daily routine for others a little bit easier in their every day maintenance.  I teach you how to work with your hair, not against it.
